When I will tell you which places are the best to see in Kyoto it's very difficult to tell as there are very many gardens and temples which are very beautiful. The list is very long of nice things to see but here are some of them:

"Gion" which is in this list is the old part of Kyoto with old fashioned houses. It's a very nice and cosy part of Gion. Besides, if you are lucky you can see a Geisha walking around there. Before you go to Gion in Kyoto you have to remember that the Geishas are not dressed up like Geishas for the tourists. They are there because people use them as they did in the past: restaurants hire them to entertain the guests (specially the male guests) at restaurants. Gion is really a "must-do-thing" if you go to Kyoto. Go to Gion in the dark too. Then there are lights which light up the street. Watch out, there are cars which drive on the streets in Gion.
